The county Auditor administers the county functions of Federal, State, and Local elections. This includes voter registration, maintaining voter history, tabulating and reporting election night results, training elections judges and local officials, and collecting candidate filings.
Affidavits of candidacy and nominating petitions for county, state and federal offices to be voted on at the state general election are filed during a two-week filing period that opens 84 days before the primary and closes 70 days before the primary at 5 p.m.
Prior to a state primary and general election, a notice of election will be posted in the offices of the County Auditor and Municipal clerks and will also be made available on this web site. The notice will also be published in local newspapers. Sample ballots will be posted in the Office of the County Auditor and published in local newspapers the week prior to the primary or general election.
Township elections are held in March each year – with the exception of the townships of Brandon, Carlos, LaGrand, Miltona and Osakis – which have opted to hold their Township Election in conjunction with the State General Election held in November of the even numbered years.
