Law Enforcement Autism Project
Bringing officer awareness and parent assurance to the Douglas County community around individuals with autism.
Douglas County is launching a new program designed to proactively assist law enforcement and families in identifying helpful ways to approach autistic individuals in times of need.
Program Launch:
-Host informational meeting to bring awareness to project, answer questions, and assist with registration.
-Build a database by accepting submissions including general demographic information, photographs, caregiver/guardian contact information, special instructions/locations, diagnosis, triggers, effective calming tools, etc. See Notice of Health Information Form.
-Store information at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office securely and confidentially, only to be used for law enforcement purposes.
-Provide continuing educational opportunities for sheriff's office staff and first responders.
