Case Details:
On July 14, 2024 at 12:34 PM, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a bicyclist, at the intersection of Co Rd 5 NE and Minnesouri Rd NE. Deputies arrived and determined that a white Dodge truck was traveling eastbound on Co Rd 5 driven by a 34 year old man from Hewitt, Mn. The driver of the truck struck a bicyclist who was also traveling eastbound on the shoulder of Co Rd 5. It was determined that the driver of the white Dodge truck tried to stop after striking the bicyclist, but ended in the south ditch on Co Rd 5. The driver of the truck was not injured. The bicyclist was transported to Alomere Hospital in Alexandria with non life threatening injuries. Responding agencies included the Douglas County Sheriffs Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Miltona First Responders, and North Ambulance. The crash is currently under investigation.
