Jail Administration
The mission of the Douglas County Jail is to provide a safe and secure environment for all who enter the jail and for the citizens of the communities that we serve. We provide a positive, humane, sanitary and constitutionally-operated facility with highly trained and dedicated correctional staff. We encourage inmates through a variety of programs, education, and accountability to help them grow in a positive direction to assist their re-entry into the community.
Douglas County Jail was built in 2010 at a cost of $12.9 million. It is approximately 57,000 square feet. We have 156 beds and are approved to hold up to 135 inmates.
Our jail houses male, female and juvenile inmates. Douglas County contracts with West Central Regional Juvenile Center in Moorhead, MN.
We hold minimum, medium and maximum security inmates.
We are a direct supervision jail, which means our correctional officers are in the General Population housing units with the inmates and interact with them.
We are regulated by the Department of Corrections and the MSS 2911 standards for MN State Statutes.
